Return to Strength

Post-rehab personal training in Charlotte for adults coming back from an injury or surgery. Progressive training designed for the body you have right now, not the body you had before.

Return to Strength

The same progressive system, started further back

Return to Strength runs on the same progressive training every EDGE client gets: movement quality first, then strength you can use outside the gym. What changes is where it starts. Your first phase is built around the joint, the surgery, or the flare-up you're bringing with you.

Daniel Ancheta writes and runs the programming here. His certifications are the ones that matter for a body coming off rehab: NSCA CSCS, FMS Level 1 and 2, and Original Strength Level 2. If you're still under a therapist's care, or just finishing up, he'll talk to them directly with your permission.

  • Movement quality before load, every session
  • Programming that respects what your body has been through
  • A coach who tracks your comeback week to week

Physical therapy is only the beginning of your fitness journey

You're not alone in this

You put in the work and you graduated. Then someone handed you a sheet of exercises and told you to "stay active." If that's where you are right now, you're not the only one. Nearly one in four adults in Mecklenburg County lives with arthritis, and more than a quarter report some form of disability. A lot of people are trying to work out what comes after physical therapy.

Going from a supervised PT table to a big-box gym floor on your own is how people get re-injured, or just stop going. Return to Strength is built for exactly that stretch: a coach who knows what your body has been through, and a program that starts where you are today.

Arthritis prevalence

Nearly one in four adults in Mecklenburg County lives with arthritis. It responds well to movement, as long as it's the right movement.

Living with a disability

Over a quarter of adults in the area report some form of disability. Most gyms aren't built for them. We are.

Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

NSCA

The gold standard for training athletes, and just as useful for training an adult coming back from injury. A CSCS means your coach understands biomechanics, periodization, and how to progress a body safely after it's been through something.

Functional Movement Screen, Level 1 & 2 (FMS)

Functional Movement Systems

Before we load a single bar, we screen how you move. The FMS finds asymmetries and compensations, which are usually what turns into a re-injury when nobody catches them. Every Return to Strength client starts here.

Exercise Science Degree

University of Georgia

Four years of exercise physiology, anatomy, and program design. That coursework is behind every call Daniel makes on the training floor.

Original Strength Level 2

Original Strength Systems

Original Strength goes back to the movement patterns we all start with as babies: rolling, rocking, crawling. Injury tends to scramble those. This work rebuilds them first, before anything heavier.

It's for you if…

You did the hard work in PT. Now you need a program that builds on it.

“I highly recommend EDGE to anyone and everyone, no matter your current fitness level. Before I joined I was incredibly out of shape - as in walking up the stairs was an activity. I’ve been going now for over six months…”

“I have been working out at Edge for about 3 years and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for my health. I’d previously tried the Y, F45, and Burn Boot Camp and none of them stuck more than a few months and I never saw fitness results.”
Allison Winston★★★★★
“Chase and Daniel have been amazing! The workouts are challenging but the encouragement to get through is great! If you’re looking for a gym or personal trainer, check out Edge Performance! You won’t regret it!!”
